The new Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Prof Oye Bandele, has said the institution would soon begin a two-year programme for the conversion of HND certificate to degree status.
Bandele, who took over the management of the institution from Prof Patrick Aina on December 1, said plans were also in the pipelines to boost its academic standard and shore up its revenue profile.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, Bandele said that the university would convoke a summit on internally generated revenue, with intention to make every faculty viable.
Bandele, who is a professor of educational evaluation, added that the management had started the construction of hostels on campus to provide accommodation, to make students resident on campus, saying 10,000 students were being targeted under this policy.
He also said the university is setting machinery in motion for the exploration of business ventures like bakery, block industry, sachet water business, farming etc, to shore up the Internally Generated Revenue of the institution in view of the dwindling allocation to the state.
