Management of ITV/Radio Benin has been honoured with an award of Excellence by the Department of Medical Lab Sciences, University of Benin for contributions to Public Health Enlightenment.
The award ceremony took place during the opening ceremony of the fourth series of 2017 Medical Lab. Science Council Professional Development Workshop held at the Banquet Hall, University of Benin.
Pius Nsogho reports that Ifeoma Igwe of Programmes Department also bagged an award of excellence for contributions to the promotion of good health through the popular ITV programme, Healthy Living.
Presentation of an award of excellence to the General Manager ITV Benin, Senior Elder Ogbeide Uwumwonse, represented by Manager News and Current Affairs, Mr Eghosa Agbonlahor. Presenter ITV Program, Healthy Living, Ifeoma Igwe also received an award of excellence.
Declaring the conference open the Vice Chancellor, University of Benin Prof. Faraday Orumwense represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration Prof. J. Ehirobo said the success recorded by the department of medical laboratory science is commendable.
Earlier in a key note address the Head of Department, medical laboratory science, Dr Micheal Okungbowa said the organisers decided to honour ITV/Radio Benin for the stations programme “Healthy Living” used in educating the public about health while the Dean, school of Basic Medical Science Prof. Henrietta Oboh, represented by Dr. Gerald Eze said the event was put together to enrich participants.
A lecture titled Telemedicine and the Biomedical was delivered by Dr. J.O Idemudia.
Certificate of participation was also presented to the Vice Chancellor Prof. F.F Orumwense as well as Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Prof. Pius Iriobhogbe.
Manager News and Current Affairs ITV Benin Mr. Eghosa Agbolahor and Ifeomaa Igwe commended the department of Medical Laboratory Science, College of Medical,University of Benin for the success of the event, while Chairman Organizing Committee Mrs Imose Omusi said the conference was an improvement on the previous event.
The theme for this year’s workshop of Medical Lab Science Council of Nigeria is Molecular Diagnostic in Clinical Research.
