It was a gathering of intellectuals, captains of industry, politicians, businessmen and family members when the Registrar, Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, Ms Biekoroma Amapakabo, was honoured with Afrikanwatch Double Gold Merit Award as one of the “most distinguished administrators in Nigeria, 2017 and excellence award for restructuring and repositioning college registry.”Amapakabo was honoured with Most distinguished administrators in Nigeria, 2017 and Excellence award for restructuring and repositioning college registry, by Afrikanwatch, in Lagos.
Meanwhile, the guest speaker at the occasion, Mrs. Helen Ogboh, a human resource expert cum banker, who spoke on a theme, “Selfless service to a nation,” noted that Ms. Amapakabo had utilised everything she has acquired over the years for humanity.
She said: “Her wealth of experience and application cut across all spheres of life, and the registrar has written her name in the book of history.”
The event was chaired by Mr. Dennis Amachree, a retired Assistant Director, Department of State Service, DSS, who described the registrar as a true patriot whose experience and laudable achievements cannot be qualified.
Corroborating this, Editor-in-Chief, Afrikanwatch, Mark Columbus Orgu, noted that the choice of the registrar was based on merit after going through her immeasurable achievements.
Also at the event was Chairman, Oriade Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Mrs Ramontalai A.O. Hassan, represented by Mr. Rasaq Olojede.
Meanwhile, Ms. Amapakabo has expressed profound gratitude to God for keeping her alive to receive the awards after all odds, saying “it is God’s grace that has sustained me throughout these eight years as registrar.”
