    EMIR OF KANO INSTALLED AS UNIBEN'S VC.


    The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II was on Wednesday installed as the ninth Chancellor of the University of Benin, Edo State. 
    Speaking at the ceremony, President Muhammad Buhari said the emir was appointed as the university’s chancellor because of his wealth of experience and integrity.

    He called on him to use his experience to improve the university.
    Represented by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, the president warned vice chancellors and management of universities in the country against corrupt practices. 
    “We are committed to the fight against corruption. The federal government will ensure that wastages and leakages are blocked and perpetrators are brought to book,” he said. 

    The Chancellor, Muhammad Sanusi II, in his address said he would work hard to consolidate on the good work and ideas of his predecessors in line with goals of the founding fathers of the university.  

    He thanked the federal government for finding him worthy of the appointment. 
    In his address, Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Faraday Orumwense, said the institution was committed to staff welfare, reduction of cultism to the barest minimum and maintaining uninterrupted academic calendar.
    The vice chancellor appealed for more funding from the government to address challenges bedevilling the institution.
