The maiden homecoming of the great Lions and Lionesses of the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka had coincided with the beginning of the West Africa Universities Games (WAUG) 2015 hosted by the premier university. But the two events were not planned together; the alumni of the Electrical Engineering department were returning ‘home,’ some of them after many years of leaving the institution.
Despite the fact that it coincided with the opening ceremony of the ongoing West Africa University Game taking place in UNN, principal officers took time off to be part of the epoch-making maiden homecoming of the Alumni of Electrical Engineering Department.
The occasion was virtually embraced by all the past and present products of the famous Electrical Engineering department which has suffered tremendous setback in the recent past occasioned by the natural disasters that completely destroyed their laboratory equipment and the departmental building in October 2010.
Thus the homecoming did not only serve as a platform for interaction between the alumni, the staff and students of the department, but also an opportunity for the alumni to give back to the department that produced them.
