Yabatech Alumni seeks better funding for education

The President, Yaba College of Technology Alumni Association (YCTA), Oluwafemi Martins, has called on stakeholders and alumni of other tertiary institutions in the country to draw attention of leaders to lopsided budgetary allocation for education.

Martins, speaking at a briefing to announce a national workshop by the YCTA slated for October 17, 2017, said the lop-sidedness in budgetary allocation to education in Nigeria becomes evident when Ghana has 31 per cent for education; Côte d’Ivoire, 30 per cent; Uganda, 27 per cent; Morocco, 26.4 per cent and South Africa, 23.8 per cent respectively.

Martins said the workshop is a platform to engage key experts to proffer solutions on how business financing can be a tool for economic development and growth in the country.
